Semaglutide Therapy

Semaglutide Therapy

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 medication that offers a number of health benefits. GLP-1 medications may promote weight loss and help maintain a healthy body weight through a variety of means. These medications can normalize blood sugar levels, thereby improving A1C levels, and may decrease the occurrence of cardiac events.

GLP-1 medications work by mimicking a hormone produced in our bodies when we consume food. This results in decreased intestinal motility so you will feel fuller longer, thereby decreasing your hunger. Blood sugar levels are normalized, in part, by reducing the production of sugar in the liver and through stimulation of insulin secretion by the pancreas.

Semaglutide Standard Dosing Protocol:

  • Weeks 1-4: 0.25 mg injected subcutaneously once weekly
  • Weeks 5-8: 0.5 mg injected subcutaneously once weekly
  • Weeks 9-12: 1 mg injected subcutaneously once weekly
  • Weeks 13-16: 1.7 mg injected subcutaneously once weekly
  • Weeks 17 Plus: 2 mg injected subcutaneously once weekly
